Imperial Surgical announces the launch of KLEANIK™, an exciting and groundbreaking new system that provides continuous disinfection of sink drains, one of the main sources of water borne bacteria that put critically ill hospital patients at risk of acquiring infections. Sink drains potentially allow the build up of a biofilm layer which then becomes a haven for bacterial growth. When the contaminated sink is then used, an aerosol is created from the splashing water, which spreads the infection into the atmosphere. Critically ill patients in the ward then acquire the infection, resulting in prolonged hospital stays and expensive treatment, and in a certain section of the population, leading to fatal consequences.
